Wisdom Matters (Day 20)

Encouragement is such a powerful tool. A kind word to lift up another is an act of love.

Listen to today’s Truth…

Be an intentional encourager wherever you are!

Read the following Scripture…

Proverbs 12:25 says, “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.”

Consider these thoughts…

It is guaranteed that you know at least one person who is burdened about life. It’s a great day to be a blessing to that person!
You can do more than be a witness to their anxiety! Christians are not meant to just talk about Jesus with others. You are also meant to be like Jesus to others. One of the ways one would do that would be the way you utilize your words.
Your words have the power to ally you with your friends, family, and co-workers against their anxieties. You can uphold them with your love-packed and intentional encouragements. This, too, is spiritual warfare!

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Choose 3 people to share kind words to today!

Pray…

  • That God would sanctify your words and use them to build up others!
  • That God would anoint your words to heal and bless.

Wisdom Matters (Day 19)

Generosity is a countercultural trait, and it is the key to a blessed life!

Listen to today’s Truth…

Live to be a blessing to others.

Read the following Scripture…

Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

Consider these thoughts…

Everyone wants to live abundantly. The way to go about it in the world is to live for oneself. However, today’s piece of wisdom says that an abundant life is a fruit of generosity.
I think an oftentimes overlooked implication of today’s proverb is that God cares about how you love others around you.
No life that is laid down for the love of another is a waste!

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Consider who you can refresh today, and take it into action!
  • Consider who you can give today, and take it into action!

Pray…

  • To be a vessel for God’s generous heart.
  • For a heart that loves well.

Wisdom Matters (Day 18)

Kindness is a widely underestimated virtue.

Listen to today’s Truth…

Kindness is never a waste of effort.

Read the following Scripture…

Proverbs 11:17, “Those who are kind benefit themselves, but the cruel bring ruin on themselves.”

Consider these thoughts…

Oftentimes, it’s easy to save our “kindness” for our one-on-one meetings at Starbucks or for the welcoming committee at church.
However, your kindness is one of the most powerful ways to manifest Jesus.
Oftentimes, it does not seem worth it to be kind to the person who cut you off on the road or the cashier at the gas station. In a way, these random encounters may seem irrelevant to you, and in those moments, kindness feels like a waste of time.
However, today’s proverb implies that the ultimate audience to your kindness is God, for He is the one that blesses you for your kindness. Every moment of kindness that you give onto others, whether they deserve it or not, are seeds of blessings sown for yourself! So, sow generously, for the Lord is faithful to those seeds.

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Challenge yourself to do at least 3 random acts of kindness onto others today.
  • Ask yourself what does kindness look like at home? At work? In public? At church?

Pray…

  • For a generous heart that is kind to others.
  • For supernatural encounters with strangers.
