It’s amazing how this necklace never broke, being that it endured the fascination of multiple toddlers. It was a birthday gift from my people, and it was meaningful because, back then, I was on a year long search for the right pearl— the most underrated of gems, birthed from a wound within an oyster. All the most valuable and beautiful things in life are birthed from pain. And, we persevere not because we have a supernatural ability to endure it ... but, rather, we have a supernatural longing for what’s birthed from it. It’s funny because we as humans do so much to live a painless life, when it’s actually pain that gives birth to the things worth living for. Jesus once shared a parable about a man who sold everything he had for the pearl of great price. Some of us are in seasons where we are feeling the weight of such a price. Take heart. His pleasures will always outweigh the pain. For He is your pearl.
“The One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate and go out.Their King will pass through before them, the Lord at their head.” Micah 2:13

This is my family. But there are faces not shown here that have carried us to where we are today. Thankful for all of you. Our kin in NJ and Chicago. Bethany for being home. The River for surrounding us. The Honor Summit and Abba International teams for giving me courage to dream. The 4Christmission tribe for giving me roots. The Living Hope fam for giving me life and joy. FECM for your loyalty. And so many others who have blessed us with your friendship, your prayers, and your support. Everything we do is only possible because we do not do it alone. Happy Thanksgiving. • • • PC: @katherineykim
