Saving Faith (Day 5)

Sin comes from within ourselves. How we deal with sin reveals how we view God.

Listen to today’s Truth…

Sin needs to be repented for, not justified.

Read the following Scripture…

James 1:13-14 says, “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.”

Consider these thoughts…

Sometimes, in the midst of struggling with the issues of the heart, we can be tempted to blame God.
Is He testing me?
Is He standing afar to see if I can make the right choices on my own?
Is He teaching me a lesson through this trial?
All of these thoughts reveal how you may see the character of God. A good father does not set his child up for failure. A good father is your biggest cheerleader. A good father believes in your worth and your potential for greatness. He would not set you up to fail.
God is not tempting you. He is helping you and loving you.

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • If you find yourself judging God, take a moment to renounce your thoughts and shift your mindset.
  • If you are falling into temptation, take some quality time to repent.

Pray…

  • For strength against the flesh.
  • For the pleasure of His Presence.
