Wisdom Matters (Day 14)

There is a time and a place for someone to be corrected.

Listen to today’s Truth…

Truth is of the utmost importance, but it, too, must be delivered with wisdom.

Read the following scripture…

Proverbs 9:7-8 says, “Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults; whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse. Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you; rebuke the wise and they will love you.”

Consider these thoughts…

I oftentimes witness a person tear apart another with words, and the default self-justification is, “Well, it’s the truth!”
Yet, just because someone is living a life that is subpar to biblical standards, does not automatically make that person a prime candidate for rebuke. If that person is not ready for the rebuke, then your “truth” will merely create destruction, rather than edification.
If the goal is love and edification, then we would be eager to discern when and how is the best way to share the truth.

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Have a time of prayer for those around you that you know are veering away from the narrow path.
  • Use your words with grace and love today.

Pray…

  • For those that are walking into backslidden lives.
  • For open hearts for those that are in need of truth!
