Wisdom Matters (Day 11)

Spiritual authority is crucial for the growth of any Christian. These days, it is easy to only see bad examples of authority, consequently holding onto a distaste for it in our lives. However, God works through spiritual authority, and it is meant to be a blessing.

Listen to today’s Truth…

Embrace the spiritual authority that God had placed in your lives.

Read the following Scripture…

Proverbs 6:20-23 says, “My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you. For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life…”

Consider these thoughts…

Those that are spiritually hungry would not underestimate the significance of having spiritual leaders in their lives. Back in the day, one’s parent was one’s spiritual mentor, authority, and personal shepherd.
Whoever that is to you today, is someone that will play a huge part in your spiritual growth. Those that are spiritually hungry would value a mentoring relationship. They would value someone that knows them enough to call out their blind spots and encourage the best out of them!

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Consider the last time someone of spiritual authority has encouraged your or given you advice. Do you still allow it to bless you today?
  • Ask your mentor or pastor for a one-on-one so as to glean from their spiritual understanding.
  • Consider your heart. Is it teachable?

Pray…

  • For a teachable and moldable heart.
  • For your spiritual leader.
