Wisdom Matters (Day 10)

Disciplining your flesh is not about behavior management. It is about freeing yourself to be who you truly are.

Listen to today’s Truth…

What you do each day matters to God.

Read the following Scripture…

Proverbs 5:21-23 says, “For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and He examines all your paths. The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare them; the cords of their sins hold them fast. For lack of discipline they will die, led astray by their own great folly.”

Consider these thoughts…

A disciplined lifestyle is not a testament to the strength of your own willpower. Rather, it is a testament to your love for the Holy Spirit. A life that is ensnared by habitual sins, fleshly addictions, and gluttonous indulgences is a life that silences the Spirit.
If your desire is to follow God, then you have to tell your flesh to get out of the way. What you do on a daily basis matters to the Lord. Your habits matter. Your daily choices matter.
Your love for God is not to be displayed only on Sundays. It is to be displayed by your choice of lifestyle!

Apply the truth! The following are optional things to do…

  • Omit a fleshly habit from your life.
  • Add a spiritual habit into your life (a daily devotional, prayer, thanksgiving, etc.)
  • Reflect on your daily lifestyle and assess if it brings God glory.

Pray…

  • For the joys of spiritual discipline.
  • For a life that honors Him.
  • For wisdom in all that you do.
